Elements 2.0 files compatible with versions 7 or 8?

I have a bunch of files created with Adobe Elements version 2 on an
XP. Can I read these and manipulate them with version 7 or 8?

You should have no trouble opening .psd files made in PSE ver 2. They open
for me with the layers, etc.
